Counselling FAQs

  • Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss your goals, concerns, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. A primary focus is to establish rapport and safety so that you feel comfortable sharing about yourself. I understand trust and safety can take time to build with someone new, and so you won't be pushed to talk about anything you don't wish to.

Because I am a person-centered therapist, it is important you know that you will be treated like an expert of yourself, and I will uphold unconditional regard and respect for your opinions, thoughts, feelings and unique life experiences.

  • $140 / 60min

    $180 / 90min

Currently these prices already include tax and are in CAD.

For those in financial need without insurance, a sliding scale or discounted rate may be available (depending on number of spots available). Please contact me directly if you are needing this.

  • Yes, I do. I accept clients all over the world.

If you are wanting to use your benefits, unfortunately only some insurance providers in Canada are eligible. It is important you check with your provider first to see if they cover RTCs.

  • The frequency of sessions varies based on your needs and goals. Initially, weekly sessions are common. Over time, we may transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as you make progress.

  • I specialize in areas such as:

    Spiritual, Religious & Cultic Abuse
    Narcissistic Abuse
    Sexual Abuse
    Low Self-Esteem
    Anxiety
    Grief
    Depression
    Trauma/PTSD

I also work with a variety of other concerns, so feel free to discuss your specific needs with me and I'd be happy to see if it falls in my scope of practice!

  • Currently I only offer online counselling via telehealth on Janeapp where you can receive support from the comfort of your own space.

  • To prepare for an online counselling session, find a quiet and private space where you won't be interrupted. Ensure your device is charged and has a stable internet connection. Reflect on what you'd like to discuss during the session and any questions or concerns you have. It's also helpful to have a notepad nearby to jot down any insights or thoughts that may arise.

Additional tips if you are cohabitating with others:

    - wear headphones

    - try to schedule the session for when others are out of the house

    - if you feel you still don't have enough privacy, try playing music on in the background near your door, or sitting in your car (if you have one).

  • Therapy may be covered by your insurance provider, but it depends on your specific insurance plan. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to inquire about your coverage for mental health services. It is important that your provider covers Registered Therapeutic Counsellors (RTCs)

Insurance providers that RTCs are most often covered by are:

Blue Cross, Green Shield, iA Financial Group, ClaimSecure, SunLife, Group Source, Equitable Life of Canada, Victor Insurance, The Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan, (Canada Life and Manulife seem to be covered on a case by case basis).

There may be others that accept RTC designation as well.

I currently do not offer direct billing, but I will provide you with the necessary documentation to submit claims if your plan covers therapy.

  • Confidentiality is a top priority in therapy. Your personal information and the content of our sessions are kept strictly confidential. However, there are legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others. I will discuss these exceptions in more detail at the beginning of our first session before we dive into anything else so that you have informed consent before continuing the counselling experience.

  • If you see me in public, I personally will not approach you first, as I value your privacy and confidentiality, but it is entirely up to you whether you want to acknowledge me or not. I respect your privacy, and I will follow your lead in terms of how you'd like to handle such situations. Your comfort and boundaries are essential.

  • My counselling style is characterized by a holistic, trauma-informed and attachment-based approach. I believe in doing my best to create a safe space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and inner child work, to tailor our sessions to your unique needs. My goal is to guide you on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing, using techniques that resonate with you. My overall vibe is gentle, curious, creative and very empathetic.

Vedic Astrology FAQs

  • I practice Vedic Astrology with the tropical zodiac.

Vedic Astrology with the tropical zodiac is a unique approach that combines elements of both Vedic and Western astrological systems. Ernst Wilhelm, a prominent astrologer, has contributed significantly to the understanding and development of this hybrid approach. His research and teachings emphasize the practicality and accuracy of using the tropical zodiac within the framework of Vedic Astrology.

The tropical zodiac is based on the Earth's relationship with the Sun and is commonly used in Western Astrology. By incorporating the tropical zodiac into Vedic Astrology, practitioners can offer clients a blend of insights from both systems. This hybrid approach allows for a more comprehensive and nuanced interpretation of birth charts, providing clients with a richer understanding of their astrological influences and life path.

Ultimately, there are many different routes to take on which kind or combo of astrology system(s) to use. Each astrologer just seems to find their own cup of tea that suits them best. I believe each system to work well and provide accuracy. It is a mystery how astrology works, but it just seems to, regardless of the system at play.

  • 60min sessions are $133

    90min sessions are $188

(Exception: "Hard Times Reading" is $108 (60min)

All of these prices include tax.

  • Vedic Astrology can offer valuable insights into your personality, life's purpose, unconscious patterns and potential challenges. It can help you make informed decisions, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and provide guidance for personal growth and self-awareness.

  • To provide an Astrology reading, I'll need your:

    date of birth

    time of birth

    and place of birth

This information allows me to create your birth chart (natal chart), which serves as the foundation for the reading.

Please note that I currently do not accept birth times that are more than 30min within range of accuracy.

  • Simply put, I need time to look at your chart and integrate it. I spend quite a lot of time mulling over a chart before the reading to prepare so I can offer my clients an accurate and fulfilling reading.

It is important to note that not only must you book in one week in advance, but also fill out the intake form one week in advance!

  • All of my readings are done online video Zoom or Janeapp. You can access the reading via your computer, tablet or phone (but it is more ideal to have a bigger screen so that you may see the chart in more detail). Having a private space, a secure connection and possibly headphones is all you really need.

Readings are recorded for your convenience (unless otherwise requested), but it can still be helpful to have a notepad and pen ready to jot down notes.
